Mindful that mining projects have the potential to have enormous impact on traditional lands and communities, we have committed to environmental protection and have facilitated the involvement of local aboriginal communities in our environmental management planning at Voisey's Bay.

On a day-to-day basis, VBNC environmental monitors work in direct partnership with our contractors as well as representatives from local aboriginal groups. In fact, the company pays the salaries of full-time LIA and Innu Nation environmental monitors. In December 2002, we held our first Environmental Performance Review Workshop. It provided an avenue to summarize environmental performance at the site, comment on the effectiveness of our Environmental Protection Plan and identify opportunities to make improvements for 2003 and beyond.

For detail on our environmental activities at Voisey's Bay, see the Inco Environmental, Health and Safety Report and the Voisey's Bay Environmental Progress Report.
