For Suppliers
Welcome to the Vale Inco Supplier information site. Suppliers play a key role in
the success of our day-to-day efforts here at Vale Inco. We value our supplier relationships
and we want to take this opportunity to update you on the new service model we are
implementing.
Shared Services and Strategic Procurement are two ongoing initiatives that will
introduce a new, more centralized delivery model for functions in Finance, Human
Resources (HR), Procurement and Information Technology (IT).
Vale Inco will now divide its procurement activities into three areas:
- Strategic Procurement
- Capital Projects Procurement
- Shared Services Procurement
The Strategic Procurement group will purchase all items in strategic categories
and capture synergies from a business volume perspective by consolidating strategic
purchases on a national and global basis. The Strategic Procurement organization
is led by Marc Duchaine. Email:
strategic.procurement@valeinco.com.
The Capital Projects Procurement group is accountable for procurement for
complex growth and sustaining projects excluding strategic categories. For example,
Capital Projects will manage procurement for major project studies, construction,
engineering services, project management, research & development, Brownfield Exploration
and large capital projects. Procurement for Capital Projects is led by Eugene Iacob
except for VINL where it is led by Miles Lippett . Email:
BDGCapitalProjectsProcurement@valeinco.com.
Shared Services Procurement will provide centralized management of procurement
activities for all items not procured by Strategic Procurement or Capital Projects.
Shared Services will also be responsible for standardizing the procedures for procurement
of goods and services in North America. The Shared Services Procurement group is
led by Jose Santos. Email: sso.procurement@valeinco.com.
For more information on the purchasing breakdown and the strategic categories see
the following documents on the Resources page: "Procurement Area Purchasing Breakdown"
and "Strategic Categories List". If you are unsure who to contact, please email
sso.procurement@valeinco.com.
The Shared Services Organization (SSO) will support Vale Inco’s North American operations
and is based on the existing model being successfully utilized by Vale in Brazil.
While the Shared Services Organization includes a number of operational support
activities, the most visible to our Supplier community is Procurement.
Our intention is to deliver an improved level of service to both our internal clients
and suppliers. We will be working with our internal clients to create Service Level
Agreements (SLAs). As a supplier, your assistance is critical in helping Shared
Services meet our commitments to the business.
The Shared Services implementation will allow Vale Inco to be more responsive throughout
the procurement process including; order placement, receipt of goods and services
and payment. These changes are accompanied by new processes and procedures that
we have detailed in the Supplier Information Session presentation on our Resources
page.
These changes are being implemented across our Operations in North America; from
our Voisey’s Bay Operations in Newfoundland and Labrador, to our Corporate Office
in Toronto, our Projects and Research groups at Sheridan Park, Operations in Ontario,
at Port Colborne and Sudbury and the Thompson Operations in Manitoba.
You worked with us as we implemented the Oracle software and the ELO Project. Now
we are building upon that platform to leverage a global shared services network
to procure goods and services for Vale Inco in North America. I want to recognize
the patience you have demonstrated thus far and I want you to know that your continued
support is critical as we move forward in our journey.
Thank you,
Dorothy Cayen
Vice President, Shared Services North America,
